Tour of the Pacific Film Archives

On October 21, 2009, 16 UC Berkeley Library staff gathered at the Pacific Film Archives (PFA) for a tour of the facilities and their databases. Nancy Goldman (Head, PFA Library and Film Study Center) and Anuj Vaidya (Indexer/Outreach) were our hosts.

Our tour included:

  • an introduction to the PFA,
  • it's history and the history of the building,
  • an overview and facts of the collection,
  • an overview of the PFA's services and film exhibits,
  • a history and overview of their cataloging and their databases.
The group then divided into two smaller groups. One group toured behind the scenes of the PFA library, the screening room and staff offices. The other group viewed a demonstration of the PFA CineFiles database and their catalog. The groups then switched.
